DevKeys Keyboard

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-25

This Privacy Policy explains how Future Industries (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles your information when you use DevKeys Keyboard (the “App”). The App is published by Future Industries (Japan).

If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@future-industries.jp.

What we collect

Nothing. DevKeys Keyboard collects no personal information of any kind, and transmits no data off your device.

The App has no account, no login, no network code, and no analytics.

Why we can say that

iOS custom keyboards are sandboxed and cannot access the network, the shared pasteboard, or any device identifier unless the user grants the separate “Allow Full Access” permission.

DevKeys never requests Full Access. The keyboard extension declares RequestsOpenAccess = false, so iOS itself prevents the keyboard from reaching the network — it is technically incapable of sending your keystrokes, or anything else, anywhere.

The App behaves identically in airplane mode, because it never needed the network in the first place.

What stays on your device

We have no ability to read any of the above. None of it leaves the device, and there is no server for it to leave to.

What we do not do

Keystrokes

The keyboard receives what you type in order to do its job: to insert characters into the app you are typing in and to compute suggestions. This processing happens entirely on your device and in memory. Your keystrokes are not logged, not stored (beyond the learned-word behaviour described above), and cannot be transmitted.

Children's privacy

The App is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.

Third parties

The App uses no third-party services, and therefore shares nothing with anyone.

The dictionary is built from publicly licensed data — the OpenTaal Dutch wordlist (BSD-3-Clause / CC-BY 3.0) and word frequencies from wordfreq by Robyn Speer (MIT; data CC-BY-SA 4.0). These are static data files compiled into the App. The projects behind them receive no information about you and are not involved in running the App.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as APPI (Japan), GDPR (EU/EEA) and CCPA (California) give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal information held about you. We hold no personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose or delete. Deleting the App removes everything it stored locally.

You are welcome to contact us at privacy@future-industries.jp with any question about this.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. If a future version of the App ever changes what it does with data, this policy will be updated before that version ships.
